The Dane County Cities and Villages Association and Dane County Towns Association co-presented a virtual workshop on intergovernmental shared services on December 2. The workshop was meant to help local governments learn more about the sharing of services. Participants will hear from two presenters sharing their expertise and ideas on how cities, villages, towns and other governmental entities can simultaneously work together collaboratively and save the taxpayer money. The presenters were:
- Tim Hanna - Tim Hanna is the former mayor of Appleton and new executive director of the Local Government Institute of Wisconsin. He will speak about how Appleton has been working with neighboring municipalities, what has been working or not working, and considerations for intergovernmental agreements.
- Rob Henken - Rob Henken is the president of the Wisconsin Policy Forum. The Wisconsin Policy Forum is a statewide, nonpartisan, independent policy research organization that helps local governments find data-driven solutions to policy challenges. WPF has conducted research on shared services opportunities in various parts of the state relating to: public health, parks/recreation, fire/EMS and other segments of local government operations.
